80'S LIVE | REVIEW

80's Live
Rating: ★★★★
Venue: Adelphi Theatre, London
Cast: Sid Sims, Bryan Humphrey, Wayne Smith, Karin Latham and Rachel Johnson

The ultimate 80s night out, so come dressed to impress as we spin you around and around for a night to remember.

Blending pop and soft rock, the show includes hits such as Girls just Wanna have fun, Edge of Heaven, Tainted Love, Love Shack, Living on a Prayer, The Final Countdown, Don’t You Want Me Baby, Relax, Never Gonna Give You Up, It’s Raining Men, Rio and the list goes on. With our sensational cast and live band, this is just what the doctor ordered.

The 80's was one of the most iconic decades when it comes to music. From Madonna, to Wham!, to Soft Cell, to Whitney - the 80's were full of incredible artists with memorable tunes. What could be better than celebrating ten years of fabulous music?! We went to find out!

Tutus, legwarmers, neon colours - all words that come to mind when it comes to the 80's. And we saw them by the bucketload! And not just the cast dress up, but the audience are encouraged to dress up too; and they did not disappoint. It's worth mentioning that this almost felt like being at a stand-still disco. Phones are encouraged to be out and snapping away photos and videos; as well as dancing and singing. If you're expecting a traditional theatre experience, this is probably not the show for you.

The show itself was full of cliches and very cheesy, but I would have expected nothing less for a show themed around the 80's. It goes without saying that the show is feel-good and I have no doubt that almost every audience member left with a smile on their face. However, with the small cast taking on so many fan favourite songs and loud personalities, it's hard to connect with any of the cast. Their voices are fabulous, but the star of this show is the music itself.

Some of my favourite numbers of the night included, "Tainted Love", "It's Raining Men" and "Take On Me". However, some songs fall slightly flat, such as "Lip Up Fatty". But the atmosphere, the costumes and the fun definitely make up for the very few elements that the show is lacking.

80's Live is the perfect reminder as to why this decade is one of the most popular when it comes to pop culture, and of course, music. If you're looking for a night out to get you on your feet and reminiscing about the good old days - 80's Live is the show for you
